FEISAL SALUM 'FEITOTO' KUHUSU KUJIUNGA NA SIMBA SC (FEISAL SALUM TO JOIN SIMBA SC?)
SOMA KWA KISWAHILI HAPA
The Head of Information and Communication at Azam Football Club, Thabith Chumwi Zakaria, popularly known as Zaka Zakazi, has publicly stated that Simba Sports Club does not have the financial capability to sign player Feisal Salum "Fei Toto".
Feisal Salum is a player for Azam FC, which he joined in 2023 from Tanzania's oldest football club, Dar es Salaam Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga). Despite many rumors linking him either with a return to Yanga or a move to Simba, it should be remembered that Simba SC and Yanga have always been fierce rivals since the league began. In Swahili, they are called "Watani wa Jadi" (eternal rivals), as they form the Kariakoo Derby — the most intense derby in East Africa.
Yanga is the team that made Feisal famous, Simba would have loved to sign him as a way to spite their rivals, as they often try to snatch players from each other.
However, due to the controversial way Feisal left Yanga, it has been hard for many people to believe he would ever return. He left amid disputes, with harsh words exchanged between him and the club’s leadership after he attempted to terminate his contract unlawfully, which meant he did not leave on good terms.
Eventually, Yanga leaders met with Azam officials and agreed to transfer the player. Feisal later claimed he left Yanga due to financial reasons, stating that he was receiving a low salary compared to what he was promised at Azam FC.
This situation led many to believe that he could never return to Yanga, especially because of the bad blood exchanged during his transfer to Azam.
Ahead of the 2025/26 season, Feisal has been linked to numerous transfer rumors — with Yanga fans hoping for his return, while Simba fans believe he will join their side. However, our sources have discovered that Feisal has no plans to leave Azam FC for either of these two clubs.
When Thabith Chumwi Zakaria, Head of Information and Communication at Azam FC, was interviewed about the matter of Feisal potentially joining Simba, he said the following:
"Simba SC does not have enough money to buy Feisal from Azam. When Yanga and Azam were negotiating the player's transfer, Yanga included a clause that if Azam ever sold the player to Simba SC, they would have to pay Yanga a sum of TSh 1,000,000,000 (one billion Tanzanian shillings)."
According to the current financial state of Tanzanian football clubs, it's very difficult for any team to sign a player for that amount, as it's too much money — with that sum, African clubs could sign up to six players, not just one.
Thabith Chumwi Zakaria (Zaka Zakazi) went on to say that it would be difficult even if Simba wanted to pay because the club was sold for TSh 20 billion to investor Mohamed Dewji. And even if they paid that one billion to Yanga, they would still have to pay Azam for the player's actual transfer fee, making the total cost even higher.
To put things in perspective, in Tanzania, the team that wins the Premier League receives a cash prize of TSh 600,000,000 (six hundred million Tanzanian shillings). So is it realistic for a club to spend nearly double that amount on signing just one player?
